TIL: Bike Chain Sizes


Today I learned that the sizes on bike chains of e.g. 1/2” x 3/32” represent the length between pins (1/2”) and the inner width between the plates (3/32”). The 1/2” length is almost universal but the 3/32” width is not. You might need a 1/8” width, which is also called “wide”. The 3/32” width is called “narrow”.
